Lets make a PACT

make a pact

Like many, we are sure you may be finding it hard at this time to stay motivated and consistent with your physical activity levels. Now is an important time to remember the importance of remaining active as our incidental activity levels may have dropped over the past weeks and coming weeks. Not to worry however, Aqualink is here to provide a number of tips and strategies you can implement on how to maintain both your physical and mental wellbeing during this time.

Adults between the ages of 18-64 should be aiming to achieve 2.5 to 5 hours of moderate intensity physical activity, or 1.25 to 2.5 hours of intense physical activity per week. It is important to identify your current physical activity level and not dramatically increase this amount in a short period of time. Rather, you will be best served with a slow and measured approach, gradually increasing activity levels over time.

To get the most out of our daily hour and weekly allocation, it is time to make a PACT.

PACT is an acronym we have developed to better help guide you through these sessions and to make the most of this time.

PACT stands for:

Explanation

Example

Prepare

In the prepare stage we look to prepare our environment as best we can so that there is no barriers to completing your specified exercise.

  • Laying out your exercise clothes ready to be worn
  • Informing your family or colleagues in advance, of your intention to exercise

Activity

What type of physical activity will you complete?

There are many activity types to choose, or you may elect to do a combination of two.

Physical activity examples:

  • Walk
  • Run
  • Bike ride
  • Online class

Choose

We have settled on our activity selection/s, now we need to choose our goal. This an opportunity to select your distance or time goal, giving purpose to your exercise and aids in completion.

You may select an Aqualink @home session, available on the Aqualink website.

  • Complete Aqualink @home workout
  • Walk 5km
  • Bike ride for 45 minutes

Time

This is setting a day and time that best works for you and your current environment, taking into consideration working from home arrangements, weather, child care etc. Choosing a time in advance, again sets the environment for success and a clear intention, helping with follow through.

Block out time in your calendar as you would for a meeting.

  • Tuesday 7:30am – 8:30am
  • Thursday 4:00pm – 5:00pm
