May and Werner met at Aqualink

May and Werner have been long-time members of Aqualink. They enjoy the friendly, personal service and many facilities at Aqualink and visit the centre at least twice a week. Strangely enough, they never got to meet until ...

One memorable day in January 2015, they found each other swimming in adjacent lanes. May caught the eyes of Werner, who fell in love at first sight.

Werner noticed May talking to other swimmers in the "Multi-Purpose Lane". She was doing her warm-down exercises, and he bravely swam over to ask for her contact number. Caught by surprise, May politely declined the request, and Werner did not give up.

A few weeks later, impressed with his perseverance, May gave Werner her contact number. Werner was overjoyed and overwhelmed by the success.

Werner began calling May, and they soon discovered many shared common interests. They enjoyed chatting on the phone daily and regularly began to meet for lunch. They were also fond of making trips to the local beaches during the weekends.

After a year of dating, May and Werner accepted each other as their life partner.

On a sunny, beautiful day in February 2016, they tied the knot at the Canterbury Gardens. May's parents, brother and her father's sister flew from Singapore for the occasion. Werner's family members, close friends and other members of Aqualink also attended. Amy Clark, the sister of May's mother and a long-time Aqualink member, witnessed the signing ceremony.

May and Werner enjoy taking holidays at the beach in their caravan. Their favourite beaches include Torquay, Lorne and Apollo Bay. They also love surfing and beach fishing. For them, a sunset walk on the beach is very romantic.

During the festive season, they travel around Australia. They are particularly excited about their next trip to Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef in 2023.

Water links May and Werner together. They found each other at Aqualink.
