Surrey Park Seahorses Masters Swimming Club

Surrey Park Seahorses Masters Swimming ClubSurrey Park Seahorses Masters Swimming Club has been associated with Aqualink Box Hill since its inception in the early 1990’s. The club always welcomes new members and at present there are approximately 30 members with ages ranging from mid-twenties to youngsters in their 60’s.

Masters Swimming caters for all swimmers with competition at State and National level as well as competition at club level. The first Sunday of the month will find Surrey Park members in fierce battle in the Aggregate program. Members nominate times for three short swims and points are awarded for swimming nearest to your nominated time.

The Aerobic competition is an intra club and national competition and run on all other Sundays and is based on longer swims. Swims range from 400m to 60 minute swims and points are awarded on a sliding scale for swims on the basis of a national standard for each swim at each age group level. The Aerobic competition enables members to set their own goals, completing either all or part of the program.

The club holds two training sessions, Tuesday night with Wayne our coach which involves stretching and discussion followed by a swim session. The Thursday night session is not coached, but club members are supplied with a printed session. Members are encouraged to set achievable goals and will be monitored during the year as to their progress.
