Box Hill Jiu Jitsu runs classes at Aqualink Box Hill, teaching this martial art with emphasis on self-defence. Our black belt members have many years’ combined experience in martial arts (budo), having trained both in Australia and overseas. Their grades are internationally recognised and they have accredited first aid experience.
Box Hill Jiu Jitsu has developed three age-appropriate programs.
Little Legends 6 to 10 years
Little Legends combines Judo elements with fitness and games to provide a fun learning environment. The program promotes self confidence, fitness and improved cordination. Students learn basic throwing and wrestling techniques, including how to fall and roll safely.
Bushi 11 to 14 years
Bushi teaches fundamental self defence skills in a non-competitive but physically active and non-aggressive way. Students learn techniques and concepts that will enable them to manage threatening environments and protect their personal safety.
Seniors 15+ years
Box Hill Jiu Jitsu senior classes offer students a complete self defence program, promoting the use of mind and body together to maximise control and technique efficiency. Students learn self defence techniques against different types of physical and weapon attacks. Although the program teaches a fighting system that is based on traditional and realistically tested techniques, emphasis is placed on self discipline and students are educated in the responsible use of the skills and knowledge they acquire.
