Confident Body, Confident Child Seminar held at Aqualink Nunawading
In conjunction with Carrington Health (our local Community Health Service), we are excited to announce that we will be piloting a new program for parents, ‘Confident Body, Confident Child,’ which provides parenting strategies to develop healthy body image and eating patterns in children from 2-6 years. This two session program has been developed and evaluated by researchers at La Trobe University with positive impact on parents knowledge and children’s body image.
It may come as a surprise that research shows that a desire to be thin, an awareness of dieting and an emergence of unhealthy eating patterns, can occur in children as young as 5-6 years. Thus, establishing inclusive, supportive environments in the home is essential to promote development of positive body image and healthy eating habits in young children.
Aqualink has undertaken to be involved in a pilot program in October this year. As it is a pilot we can offer it at a subsidised rate of $20.00 per family - This covers a resource package as well as attendance.
It will be conducted at the Nunawading site on Mondays 15th & 29th October from 1-3pm.
Please note it is for PARENTS ONLY – it is not open to children. This allows parents to participate fully in the program.
The sessions will be facilitated by Anne Netherway, Dietitian & Bertha Wong, Child Psychologist, Carrington Health.
Numbers are limited to 20 participants so book in early to avoid disappointment! Register today.
